American Girl Store Coming To Washington Area

VIENNA, Va. (WUSA) -- Move over New York and Chicago. The Washington area is getting an American Girl mega-store of its own. Tysons Corner Center announced Tuesday morning that the new store will open in the summer of 2011.

Cory Scott, Senior Property Manager for Tysons, says the new addition will serve as a tourist shopping destination. Currently, local families travel to other major cities to visit American Girl stores.

The new store will take up two floors by Bloomingdale's. Three current retail locations have agreed to move within Tysons to make room for the new 23,000-square foot American Girl store.

"Given our unparalleled success in experiential retailing over the past decade, we are eager to bring our next American Girl store to such a premier retail destination as Tysons Corner Center," said Wade Opland, American Girl's vice president of retail.

The Town of Vienna will provide this service as a one-time only, free service for each residence in Town.

If you would like the service, you must request it no later than Sunday, August 22. Your must also meet the requirements for the pickup which include trees and limbs less than 6 inches in diameter and less than 8 feet in length.
