Manassas City Utilities received the Century Award from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for its 100-year anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, Manassas City Utilities hosted a 100-year anniversary event in October, 2013 that was attended by more than 600 people. At the event, they ceremoniously buried a time capsule containing memorable utility items from the past century and also raised more than $3,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society.

City of Manassas, Va.  is one of 184 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®)1 designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. This is the fifth year that the City of Manassas Public Works/Utilities department has received this designation. The City of Manassas was one of two public utilities in Virginia to be awarded the RP3 in 2013, out of 16 Virginia public power providers.
