Favorite Restaurant

So, I have been in Chicago for the past few days getting out and checking out the sites - it is crazy how much that town has changed since I lived there. It’s always good to get back to my roots and the food there – unreal. I forget how many great restaurants there are out there and that is probably because I spend my life in one. So, I need some help. I don’t have much time to get out so I need some recommendations for some of Virginia and DC’s best restaurants. Any type of food, any type of ambiance – I just want to know what the next place is that I should try. Hook a brother up.

Also, in case you want to follow me further, check out my blog at http://stevenlukisblog.wordpress.com/. Look forward to seeing you there.

Bluemont Hosts Its 41st Annual Country Fair This Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, the Bluemont Cititzens Association invites "neighbors" from surrounding communities to join them for a country fair. The fair, a tradition of 41 years, is held in the center of Bluemont, a quaint and delightful village in the foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

The fair offers more than thirty types of attractions and is sure to please everyone in your family. You'll find juried crafters and live demonstrations of historic crafts. Ladies from towns all around will bring home-baked goods to please your palate, and there are even pie and pickle—yes, I said pickle—making contests. There is an abundance of live music, and your children will also be entertained with games and fun especially for them.

Come Play Wiffle Ball to “Wiff out” Brain Cancer

Hundreds of people will gather to play wiffle ball at the 15th Annual Northern Virginia Wiffle Ball World Series this Saturday, August 7, at Waters Field in Vienna, VA. Over the past 6 years, Brian Bedell 2 Young Foundation (2YF) has hosted the event to raise money for brain cancer research. Brian Bedell was a Vienna native who passed away at age 35 from brain cancer in 2005. 2YF has raised over $250,000 for research and programs for people with brain cancer and hopes to continue to raise funds to fight this disease.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and the first pitch will be at 10:00 a.m. Waters Field, aka “Brian Bedell Park,” is located at 130 Center Street in South, Vienna.
