Potomac River Battle of the George Schools on Orange Line

The Battle of Georges, the Potomac River Shootout, the ax vs. the ‘fax, Outrage on the Orange Line, the mid-season NIT, no matter what you call it, local mid-majors The George Washington University and George Mason University are taking to the hardwood tonight for their annual battle of the haves vs. the have nots to determine who is the third best college basketball team in the D.C. metro.  Both schools lack football programs, so to determine regional superiority for schools named for guys named George they will leave it to one non-conference basketball game; let’s have a look at tail of tape:

Flint Hill Elementary Annual Holiday Fair

For over 20 years, Flint Hill ES (2444 Flint Hill Road) Student Government has sponsored a Holiday Fair with proceeds benefiting this public school.  The event on Sat., Dec. 4, 10-3 will include includes Professional Crafters, Pictures With Santa, Secret Santa Shop for kids, "Crafty Kids Corner" for gift making, Book Fair, Food Cafe, Bake Sale,  free gift wrap and admission.  Please join us for the fun and get into the Holiday Spirit!

Louise Archer Elementary School Sunshine 5K and Fun Run

The Louise Archer Elementary School PTA will host a 5K/1K to promote healthy behaviors and raise much-needed funds for our school. The race is on Sunday, October 17 in Central Vienna, VA, on the W&OD Trail, beginning at the intersection of Dominion Rd. and Ayr Hill Rd. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Teddy Bear Parade in Vienna

Chesterbrook Academy in Vienna, Virginia, will host its annual Teddy Bear Parade tomorrow, Tuesday, September 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Preschool and kindergarten students will parade around the school campus carrying their favorite teddy bears from home, as well as a brand new teddy bear that will be donated to the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After the parade, students will place new teddy bears into a custom-made decorative box produced by the first and second graders. The first and second graders will personally deliver the box full of new teddy bears to the Children’s National Medical Center during a field trip later this year. 

New Montessori Preschool Open in Vienna

Fiore Montessori is a new Montessori Preschool for children ages 16 months to 6 years that opened this month in Vienna. The school is located at 1629 Beulah Road opposite Meadow Lark Botanical Gardens. The preschool is located on a 4.5 acre property with a unique wooded setting and has a strong focus on engaging with the outdoors.
