MONETA, Va. (WUSA9) -- The general manager at the Virginia TV station who lost two employees in a shooting, said the victims were "just doing their job" when they were killed.

Adam Ward, 27, started at WDBJ7 in the production department and moved up to be a photojournalist.

"He was the kind of guy who was on his way home from work and heard about something breaking, he would just turn around and go do it,” WDBJ’s General Manager Jeffrey Marks said.

The station said Ward was engaged to a producer at the station and that the two had planned on moving to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Adam graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Tech, according to WDBJ7.
